Located in the heart of the Marrakech Medina, Riad Farnatchi is the product of five smaller riads that have been ingeniously combined to create the wonderful structure that stands today. Houses have stood on the site for many centuries, and some of the walls go back over 400 years; indeed, the reincarnation of these five ancient buildings stands as a great example of the way in which the old and new are perpetually intertwined in this magical city.
The current owner of Riad Farnatchi, an award winning British hotelier, spent two years lovingly converting the first three riads into a holiday home for his friends and family. After realising that this beautiful accommodation would have lain empty for long periods due to commitments elsewhere, he decided to open this stunning house to the public. Today, Farnatchi still has the feel of a highly individual, private house, but with the facilities of a world-class 5 star “boutique” hotel.
The public areas on the Ground Floor are a collection of traditionally proportioned rooms and B’hous – covered sitting areas with one side open to an internal courtyard – that allow guests to either meet together in groups or to find their own private corner.
Riad Farnatchi has a candlelit Dining Room, a Dining B’hou (Logio), two B’hous’, two sitting rooms, and a roof garden with barbeque, sun loungers and dining tables. The décor and furnishings throughout reflect a fascinating fusion of traditional Moroccan and modern European design; it is unmistakably exotic whilst being supremely comfortable and practical.
Adding to the personal, ‘boutique’ feel of the riad, Farnatchi also features a traditional white marble Hammam that is free for the use of guests between 4 – 7 p.m. everyday, and at other times by appointment, and a luxury 7m pool with underwater jetstream for swimming – heated in the cooler winter months. Wonderful gommage, massage and beauty treatments are available with Farnatchi’s fully trained specialists.
Indeed, Riad Farnatchi is available to be rented exclusively, with private use of the whole riad. With only 8 suites, many people have already found that it is the perfect place for a wonderful private house party, so why not enquire for our special rates today.
Children of all ages are welcomed on the simple understanding that parents accept full responsibility for their safety and any damage they may cause. We regret that we are unable to accept pets.
