Riad El Fenn
Riad El Fenn is a large riad town house situated close to the Bab el Ksour in the street of the palaces and only five minutes walk from the main square, Jemma el fna. The house has ancient walls over a metre thick, which shut out the sound of the bustling medina, and you enter a building of beauty and peace.
There are eighteen rooms and suites (10 with fire places and 2 with private terraces and plunge pools), all different but each with bedroom, small sitting room and bath/shower en suite. 'The douiria', is huge, with its own grand salon, en suite master bedroom, open fire, room for extra beds and a private roof terrace with small plunge pool enjoying a wonderful view.
The owners designed a house of which they could be truly proud, so the showers have power, the baths are deep, the heating/air-con is effective and discreet, the mattresses firm, the pillows plentiful, the linen fine, the beds huge, the bath oils delicious, the candles scented.
The food policy is to keep it simple, made from fresh local products, with many vegetables being produced locally at an organic vegetable garden on a farm, in the foot hills of the Atlas Mountains. Snacks, lunch and dinner are readily on hand throughout the day.
Riad el Fenn has an abundance of private areas around the house for reading, eating, drinking, sunbathing, or snoozing. The lush gardens of the terrace and courtyards attract a mass of songbirds and also offer plentiful privacy. The magnificent terrace is the place to pass the day. huge and comfortable with a vast shaded soft seated area high above the city, a rose garden, daybeds, corners to make your own and a good sized plunge pool. It has the best views in town, a panorama of the atlas, Marrakech's beautiful mosque the Koutoubia, at dusk the city lights up and glows around you - you even see the steam rising from the food stalls in the square - then the moon rises.
