"From the moment of arrival you are made to feel special, a VIP. Wending your way through medieval streets preceded by men wheeling your luggage. A secret door is reached and you are ushered into a sublime paradise. Your cares ebb away as you cross a cool marble courtyard with rippling pool and are led to a sumptuous haven, hung with heavy fabrics, cool mysterious and quiet. You are in real Morrocco and safe and sound. Everyone looks after you. The Hammam is to be recommended though culturally strange to a Westerner. To be cleansed thoroughly by a discreet and gentle young woman in an ancient tiled bathing area is amazing. The massages so professional yet you feel that he cares. Magic to return from the vibrant assault on all senses in the Souk to be cherished by this hotel's wonderful team. To hear the haunting sound calling the faithful to prayer as you await your pleasant meal on the roof terrace in a pink and gold sunset will stay with you forever. I will return."

The riad is stunning, with beautifully decorated rooms (we stayed in Suite 8, overlooking the pool), several courtyards and alcoves, sitting areas, a restaurant and large roof terrace. Suites are large, luxurious and inviting, full of the sort of little touches one often craves but doesn't often get from expensive but ultimately rather soulless big hotel experiences. Farnatchi is a calm refuge from the occasionally bewildering Medina that surrounds it.

A special mention should be made of the waiting staff. Food was served any time, in any place, and with an enthusiasm and dedication that is quite rare."

"Our family does a lot of traveling every year (3 moths out of a year). This hotel/riad is by far the nicest we have ever stayed in.

I appreciated all the details - the tassel key rings, carved wooden doors, the lime plaster walls, the thick drapes, the plaster carvings, the tufted beige colored chairs in the dining room & the stone wall that was hand carved, stunning! The fresh squeezed orange juice, the attentiveness of the staff, the sliver of soap in the bathroom smelled so good. The alcoves hidden all over the riad. What else can I say? I am ready to move in!"

It was almost unbelievable that behind the high walls and literally minutes from the souks you could not hear a sound other than the trickling of the very welcoming pool - the perfect way to cool off and chill out.
