The heart of the property is a classic Marrakech Riad courtyard complete with a dipping pool, fountain, open Moroccan sitting room and dining room with stunning feature fireplace. A private roof terrace offers a further seating area with outdoor fireplace, space to relax and loungers to soak up the Marrakech sun.
Best of all is the Riad’s hammam and massage suite, the ultimate Marrakech luxury just a few short steps from the comfort of your room. In keeping with this luxury personalised service, Riad Star also offers an exceptional dining experience; expect home-cooked meals and one of the best breakfasts in Morocco served at the time of your choice.
Riad Star offers extremely versatile accommodation. All rooms can be double or twin, most can be triples making the Riad perfect for groups of friends. There are 6 rooms which can interconnect which is great for families. The ebony and ivory can sleep large families ( up to 6 adults if needed); The dining room features full length mirrors and makes a stunning dance studio. Our dipping pool can be covered leaving the patio free for yoga, or special occasion parties. We even have the option of covering the patio with a secret rolling roof guaranteeing the success of your event in all weathers.

Double or Twin room.
Huge art deco style Cedar doors with coloured glass windows set the tone for this fun room. Decorated with a ‘Jazz’ theme, you will find a Saxaphone and clarinet if you feel inspired to play! A double or twin (bed 2m by 160cm) with en suite shower room. There is a on open fireplace with space to relax for an unforgettable Marrakech experience.

Rainbow Room
Double or Twin room.
The Rainbow room celebrates tolerance, diversity and Josephine’s adopted family of 12 children from different nations. Located in the heart of the Riad its pretty Juliet balcony overlooks the courtyard. The bed sits inside a sweet Moroccan arch. Double or twin (bed 190 by 160cm). You will love the cheerful colours of the room decor and the quality of light through the antique coloured glass in the feature window.

Chiquita Room
Double or Twin room, with extra bed on request.
Our most requested room. Chiquita is the only guest room located on the Riad Star roof terrace, near to the Hammam and Massage room. Josephine’s pet Cheetah, Chiquita, famously joined her on stage at the Casino de Paris. A double or twin room (bed 190 by 160cm) a further single bed can be provided at an extra charge (£20). You will love the fireplace and the intricately decorated arch behind the bed.

Grace Room
Double or Twin room, with an extra bed on request.
This room has an air of luxury as well as grace featuring woodwork and plaster-work by some of Morocco's finest craftsmen. An outstanding feature is the meditation pod which took a month to hand carve. A second floor double or twin room with a sofa by the window which can make a third bed at an extra charge (£20). The Grace room can be interconnecting with the Harmony Room.

Harmony Room

A spacious second floor room with beautiful decorated plaster-work and a traditional Menzeh balcony. Like the other rooms at Riad Star the Harmony Room can be made up as a Queen sized double or a generous twin, and a further single bed can be provided at an extra charge (£20). The Harmony room can be interconnecting with the Grace room.

Peace Room

This first floor room provides a tranquil and peaceful retreat complemented by a beautiful calm meditation pod. It can be interconnecting with the Liberty room. The sofa can be made up as a bed for a third person at an extra cost of £20 including breakfast. The Peace room has similar accommodation to the second floor Grace Room.

Liberty Room

You will love the light airy spacious feel of this first floor room which can be offered as a double, twin or triple. The Liberty room can be interconnecting with the Peace room. A bed for a third person can be arranged at an extra cost of £20.

Paris Room

A glamorous room celebrating the golden age of the Casino de Paris Music Hall. Generous double or twin (bed 2m by 160cm) a further single bed can be provided at an extra charge (£20). Appealing to the extrovert in all us, the decor includes a stunning red feathered head-dress worn on the Paris stage. Take in the atmosphere as you enjoy a mint tea in the spacious sitting area.

Charleston Room

The Charleston room transports you back to the roaring twenties. With separate sleeping area and sitting room this elegant mini suite is located on the ground floor patio, near the dipping pool. Double or twin (bed 2m by 150cm) the sofa can be made as a third bed at an extra charge (£20). The upbeat decor is evocative of the Jazz age with hand made tasselled lampshades and a vintage statue of a flapper in full flow.

Josephine Room
Double or Twin room.
Unusually for Marrakech this room has a window onto the street. It is believed the Pashah of Marrakech paid children to sit outside Josephine’s window and read for her while she was convalescing. A romantic double or twin (bed 190 by 150cm), with spacious en suite featuring shower and tub. Traditional Moroccan decor with 21st century comforts. Can be interconnecting with the Star room.

Heavily decorated with stunning hand carved plaster-work this spacious room is truly fit for a Star. Ivory Suite
Double or Twin room, with up to three extra beds on request.
Josephine Baker personified the obsession with all things African in 1920’s Paris. Ivory jewelry especially bangles were the height of fashion and inspired similar designs in bakelite resin.
The Ivory Room at Riad Star is the perfect African retreat. A full suite located on the ground floor with double height living space featuring stunning decorated plaster on a feature wall and on the ceiling.
If you need a workspace during your Marrakech visit the Ivory Room is the perfect choice for you. Sit at the beautiful black granite desk and connect to complimentary wifi.
A discreet internal staircase leads to a private sleeping area with a private shower room. Curtains can be drawn across for privacy.
The sleeping area has a private shower room (in addition to the main shower room downstairs).

Ebony Suite
Double or Twin room, with up to 4 extra beds on request.
In her 1920’s heyday Josephine Baker was knows as The Ebony Venus. Our fabulous Ebony Room is the largest room at Riad Star, a full suite located on the first floor which can provide a luxury retreat for a couple or fabulous accommodation for a family of up to six people.
Enter into the double height principal space, shown above a double bed this can also be furnished as a living room. Enjoy the light from the central window and admire the traditional decorated plaster ceiling with intricately decorated Fez style lamps.
At the far end of the room under the mezzanine ceiling is a cosy sitting area with satellite tv and two sofas which can both be made beds. Off this area to the left is a doorway to the principal bathroom with its luxurious tub and concealed waterfall shower.
On the right side of the sitting area a small staircase leads up to the private sleeping area (double or twin bed) there are curtains to close this area off at night time. The private sleeping area has its own conveniently placed toilet and shower room.

Eating at Riad Star
Breakfast: Your room rate includes a delicious Moroccan Breakfast which will be served at the time of your choice! The breakfast varies each day and can include traditional Moroccan crepes (Baghrir and Mesman), croissants and pastries, Marrakech Medina breads (from the bakery at the end of the street), local honey, jams (fig, strawberry and rose jams are our favourites), omelettes and other egg dishes, yoghurt, nuts and fresh fruit salad as well as freshly squeezed Marrakech Orange Juice, tea and freshly brewed coffee. For more adventurous guests wishing to explore local foods the Riad can prepare on request White Harira, Matloaa Berber Bread, or Bissara the Marrakech variant of ‘Foul’.
Lunch and Dinner: The food we serve at lunch and dinner reflects the seasonality of available produce. We offer a range of traditional Moroccan dishes like Tagine and couscous. We can usually meet special dietary requirements such as gluten intolerance or vegan diets especially if we are given prior notice. We charge 200 dirhams per person (about £16/ Euro 18) for a three course evening meal and 100 dirhams per person (£8/ Euro 9) for lunch. Each meal is shopped for and prepared individually to accommodate guests preferences, for this reason we request that you please discuss your lunch and dinner requirements with the Riad staff ideally one day in advance.
Why not pre order an evening meal (200 dirhams per person) for the night of you arrival? The Moroccan way is for the whole party to order and share the same meal served out of traditional dishes. We recommend a selection of Moroccan salads followed by Tagine (Lamb with Cumin, Chicken with Lemon, or Beef with Prunes) served with local breads then for desert a seasonal fruit salad.
Vegetarian menu: Lucie, one of the owners of Riad Papillon, is vegetarian so you can order with confidence our equally recommended dinner of vegetarian Moroccan salads followed by the classic ‘Seven Vegetables Couscous’ then fruit salad and local pastries. Let us know your menu choices when you make your reservation and your delicious supper will be waiting for you in the Riad.

The Grand Tour
The Grand Tour circuit packs in as much as it is possible to see in a day from Marrakech. You will first drive up the picturesque Ourika valley passing numerous Berber villages before climbing up the ski station at Oukamdem. Your route then descends into the side Fers Valley, down to Asni and up to Imlil. Finally return to Marrakech via Asni and Tahanoute.

Essaouira
Previously known by its Portuguese name Mogador, a fortress still commands the entrance to the harbour and the Medina itself has walled ramparts. Essaouira is usually much cooler than Marrakech and can be windy at times, it is no coincidence that the world wind surf championships are held here.
